Hemi's Holistic Healing Centre Society offers trauma-informed recovery programs for women in Kelowna. We provide an inclusive space to heal.

Why Hemi's exists

Recovery goes better when you are met where you are, with no shame and no labels.

Held, not judged

Our programs are trauma-informed. Women come as they are and are supported where they are today.

Healing in community

Group counselling, peer meetings and shared meals sit alongside one-on-one support.

Cost is not a barrier

Fees run on a sliding scale, and funding is available for women who need it.

A moment for you

Breathe with us for one minute.

Follow the circle. Breathe in for four, hold for four, breathe out for six. On a phone, you'll feel a gentle pulse at each change.

Ready
6 breaths · about 1 minute

If breathing exercises make you uncomfortable, stop and breathe normally.

Our founder

Dhorea Ramanula

Dhorea has spent more than 20 years in mental health and community work. She started on the front lines in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, then supported women affected by violence and gangs in Surrey. In Kelowna she managed Brown Road Shelter and led PEOPLE, a social enterprise that trained and hired people with lived experience as peer navigators.

She is a Métis leader, speaker and bestselling author, and she shares her own journey back to life openly. Hemi's grew out of that work: a place where women in recovery don't have to hide what they're going through.
